As an undergraduate studying Political Science and Media & Journalism with a focus in Political Communications at UNC, Aakanksha cares deeply about understanding the overlap between the media, politics, public affairs, and law. With over a decade of experience in student journalism, Aakanksha has dedicated her academic career to examining the institutions that govern us and the ways their decisions shape individual lives.

Aakanksha has spent her time at UNC researching political and judicial systems, writing long-form analyses unpacking current national and global events, honing her public speaking skills, and utilizing her experience with visual media to highlight minority stories using various multimedia techniques — all with the intent of making complex issues more accessible and meaningful to the public.
